Hi,
Jan is the month of big quizzes in Chennai. I am sure most of us are disappointed with the ody quiz being cancelled. But – with the help of the quizzing community, I am positive that we can help salvage something for ourselves.
I propose a sports quiz/ theme based quiz on that day – loads of guys will come even without the prizes… We can do this in a small way with a decent turnout.
Requirements:
1. Venue – a small hall will do for this event.
2. Entry fee – obv since we are doing everything out here, we can have a nominal fee per team.
3. Need volunteers for helping with organizing for sponsors, events, prizes and spreading word around.
4. Quizmasters come out wherever you are!!
Those in favour of this idea and believe in dreams and that we can make this happen – say AYE and reply back.
With great expectations that you guys will warm the hearts of all quizzers..
This is KN signing off…

IQL Archives December 31, 2008

As we all know, IQL meets every weekend and its members and the other participants bring some exciting and absorbing quizzes. These quizzes have been carefully archived by the IQL core members and we intend to disseminate them along with the quizzes of the future meeting on a controlled and planned basis from 2009.
Thus, in tune with this line of thought, it has been decided to charge a nominal fee of Rs.200 only per annum, from the members and others who are in need of these archives and the future quizzes. Please note that these are not membership fees and only a token amount for sharing the archives.
We would be creating an exclusive group for the paid members in Yahoo! and the questions would sent only to those members who have thus registered.
Please also note that the questions would not be parted at the meetings. They would be sent directly to the registered persons only.
We will have a meeting on Jan 3 2009, please register yourself at the meeting with your email id and the dough.
Please check this space for further details.
Champions League 4.0 December 31, 2008

On a cool afternoon on December 27th 2008, some 20 blessed souls cramped up into a 6×4 space at CCD in Isphani Centre, arguably mimicking the population density of Kolkata. The stage was all set for the 4th edition of the IQL Champions League hosted by JK.
The prelims had a good collection of 20 questions, of which many were workable, provided one read them or saw the visuals with an eagle eye. The cut-off was 8.5, which in my opinion, necessarily betrays the “difficulty level”, as many would have scored a couple more on a better day.
This ended with 6 participants (Mensa, Samanth, Alagar, Kaballah, Malcaluffin & Gopal) advancing to the finals.
The finals begun on a very enthusiastic note with some fabulous guesses and answers. Samanth started off really well, and was leading when the scores were announced halfway. But in the latter part of the quiz, the “man of the moment” was Gopal Kidao, who answered 3 questions on the trot and eventually romped home.
It was a close fight between the top-half viz, Kaballah, Kidao and Samanth, with just 2 points separating them at the end of the quiz. Samanth came second.
Apart from the brillance shown by these finalists, the icing in the cake was definitely the quality of the questions posed by JK. There was clearly a lot of difference when one compares these to his questions of the 2nd edition. Apparently, I reckon this is the right mix that one should be looking for.
Sumo, did a masterful job of keeping scores. This edition ended up on a very satisfied note and there was a sense of participation and contentment on the faces of most of the participants.
The Leaderboard can be found here.
We cannot bring you any pictures this time. Please bear with us.
Til we meet for the next edition…Keep Quizzing!!
