Champions League Season 2

The second season of Champions League was kickstarted by Yagnyeshwaran yesterday(April 11th) at Indira Nagar CCD. It was a hot summer evening and when i entered with Sana, the quiz had already begun. Coming after a really long hiatus i couldnt help noticing the fact that KN and Malcaluffin were not there. They missed a beauty by Yaggy. Here goes the list of prople who had come. Sylvain, Sana,Rabi,Arjun Siva, Aniruddh(karaboudjan), Rohit, Kabala, Ananth(me), Matti and Sreeram(sorry if i missed out any).

The Structure of the Quiz

The quiz had a reasonable mix of good questions, great ones, workoutable ones, one outright sitter and a few unanswerables. One could smell the “Bizzz” and “F1″ themes running predominantly in the quiz. The quiz had a total of 40 questions and for a quiz wherin most of the questions were compiled during the wee hours of holy saturday, it looked like a well researched one.

The winners

The quiz was over quite early and i felt that this was the earliest, i ever came out of an IQL meeting. Sreeram emerged Champion with 21 points and close on his heels was Kabala with 19. Arjun Siva was a distant3rd with 9.5The rest of us got between 6.5 and 9. Awaiting eagerly for Sreeram’s quiz in the next edition of Season 2

Tubelight of the day

The tubelight of the day award undoubtedly goes to Sylvian Patrick .

There was Sylvian standing with a book titled “The People who Killed Gandhi” and suddenly out of nowhere came the question which went something like this.Regardin death did GB Shaw comment thus – “It is dangerous to be a good person” (ll update the proper quote once i get my hands on the questions).

The answer was obviously Gandhi and the “fuck-how-am-i-supposed-to-know” look on patrick’s face was priceless. Even after Matti’s and Sana’s insults he wasn’t able to crack it. Sad. Congrats Sylvian on being the Tubelight of the day.

On the whole it was a quiet, nice and quizzical evening and Yaggy’s treat for the brain combined with CCD’s delicious desserts made the quiz a perfect one. Good Job Yaggy.
