I think you meant the cut off to be 29 and 33 and not as highest score.

Naveen, wasn’t the HS is Chennai 37 (!!) by Kabala/Goach/Srini, and the cut-off 33 ?

In retrospect, I think I may have overestimated the finalist’s capabilities a tad too much – but whatever the teams did not answer, the audience came up trumps and so the quiz master ended up with possibly 2-3 questions only returning to him.
The highest score in the prelims was 29 (in Chennai it was 33) so yes it was tougher but again marginally.
For those planning to conduct quizzes, one thing I learnt from the Chennai 2009 experience was to have a preset tiebreaker sequence. In Chennia, the questions I had were easier and more suited to a buzzer rather than tougher for both etams to write down an answer. This time the tiebreaker sequence had 10 questions only – first 3 written (+1/-0 points), next 3 written (+1/-1) and final 4 buzzer. If that failed the winner would be decided by the toss of a coin! (This drew a predictable gasp from the audience!).

@Malcaluffin – good review man. I wasnt in Bengalooru, but this gave me a good picture of what happened. Tough luck on a tough quiz. We will bounce back in other quizzes, so keep up the tempo!
