2009: The Beginning 🙂

Approximately 130 Indians were the fortunate mortals who were present at Karpagam hall on 26th January, 2009 – at the right place at the right time. That was the day when the very 1st edition of “India Unplugged – the India Quiz” took place!

Kido and Anil won the quiz after bingoing the last question. Ramana and Devi Prasad came second. All in all, it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship between IQL and the India Quiz! You can read all about the quiz at this link, a wonderful piece by Anantha Shankar.

2010: Two-Zero-One-Zero

The 2nd edition of “India Unplugged” was hosted on January 26th, 2010. The title sponsors were BPCL and we had Fruzee and Naihaa as our co-sponsors. The quiz had something for everyone. The venue was almost full except for the last row, a pleasing sign for us organizers.

Murthy BVR, a first time quiz master, conducted the prelims while Sylvian Patrick, an IQL stalwart, conducted the finals. The team consisting of Sriram, Sankhya and Vijay won the closely-contested finals. You can read all about the quiz, the questions, the boquets and the brickbats, at this link, a wonderful article written by Karthik Narayan himself.

2011: Third-time lucky!

The 3rd edition of “India Unplugged” was hosted on February 6, 2011. As a build-up towards the quiz, IQL prepared some teaser questions from some of our old quizzes. Answers are given after each question. The links to the sets were as follows:

The quiz was a success, with more than 100 teams (of three members each) participating in the quiz. Teams came to Chennai from places such as Bhubaneshwar, Calcutta, Bangalore and Mumbai for the quiz!

2012: Four’s the score!

The Indian Quizzing League will host its premier event “India Unplugged” on Jan 26, 2012 in Chennai. As our quiz goes into its fourth edition, the IQL group is proud and happy to invite teams from Chennai and other cities to block your calendars for the same. Keep your date with India’s Republic Day and reward yourselves for knowing your country! You can find out more details about the latest edition of “India Unplugged – the India Quiz” by clicking here.
